Allegro launches fully integrated DMOS full-bridge motor driver IC
Allegro MicroSystems introduces a fully integrated DMOS full-bridge motor driver IC

Allegro MicroSystems has introduced a fully integrated single full-bridge DMOS motor driver IC with over-current protection (OCP), internal adjustable pulse-width-modulation (PWM), and a fully integrated charge pump.

Allegro’s A4950 is intended for use as a DC brush motor driver with continuous output currents up to 2.5 amperes. Two input terminals are provided for use in controlling the speed and direction of a DC motor with externally applied PWM control signals.

Internal synchronous rectification provides lower power dissipation during PWM operation. Other internal circuit protection includes over-current protection (OCP), motor lead short-to-ground or short-to-supply protection, thermal shutdown with hysteresis, under-voltage monitoring of VBB, and crossover current protection.

The A4950 is targeted at the office automation, industrial and consumer markets. It is provided in an 8L
SOICN package with exposed thermal pad (Suffix LJ) for enhanced thermal dissipation.  It is priced at $1.51 in quantities of 1,000.
