DDC launches lowest power MIL-STD-1553 transceiver
The transceiver offers options for MIL-STD-1553A/B, MIL-STD-1760, and McAir compatibility, affording engineers the flexibility to fit a wide range of ground and aerospace applications from mission computers and displays to ground vehicles and commercial aircraft.

Data Device Corporation (DDC), a New York-based firm into designing and manufacturing of high-reliability data bus products, motion control, and solid-state power controllers for aerospace, defense, and industrial automation applications, has introduced what it claims is the world’s lowest power dual MIL-STD-1553 transceiver in a 7mm x 7mm package.

The BU-67401L transceiver offers options for MIL-STD-1553A/B, MIL-STD-1760, and McAir compatibility, affording engineers the flexibility to fit a wide range of ground and aerospace applications from mission computers and displays to ground vehicles and commercial aircraft.

The receiver section accepts MIL-STD-1553 trapezoidal or McAir-compatible waveforms and produces TTL level signals at its outputs. These outputs represent positive and negative excursions of the input data signals beyond an internally fixed threshold level. External STROBE inputs are provided to enable or disable the receivers’ outputs.

The transmitter section accepts bipolar TTL signal data at its bipolar digital inputs and produces MIL-STD-1553 trapezoidal or McAir-compatible waveforms on its transmitter outputs. External transmitter INHIBIT signal are provided to disable the transmitters’ outputs.

“The small size of the BU-67401L, combined with its ultra low power consumption and military grade performance, makes it ideal for extreme environments as well as applications demanding minimum size, weight and power (SWaP),” said Sean Sleicher, Data Bus Marketing Manager, DDC.

Applications for the transceiver include mission computers, digital data recorders,
radios/modems, displays, ground vehicles, radar systems/situational awareness and
commercial aerospace, among others.
