The authors describe a simulation-based methodology for FlexRay topology within the physical layer.

While FlexRay has aleady been deployed in a variety of producton vehicles, the authors note that most automotive companies have yet to gain much practical experience with FlexRay, particularly with its physical layer.

Part 1 of their article focuses on the basics of the FlexRay physical layer and signal integrity. The latter is essential for model generation and analysis of topology quality criteria. Read Part 1 here.

In Part 2, the authors argue that physical-layer basics and signal integrity provide the foundation for simulation-based development and validation of FlexRay systems and proceed to describe a methodology for efficient evaluation of virtual FlexRay vehicle topologies.
