Intel Capital invests in fabless, solar firm in India

Intel Capital has said it is to invest about $20 million in six Indian companies, including fabless semiconductor company Saankhya Labs and off-the-grid solar products firm, Duron Energy.

The other investments are in Testing Czars, a test engineering and solutions provider for mobile applications; Financial Inclusion Network and Operations, a business and banking technology platform provider; What's On India, an electronic programming guide for television and enStage, an electronic payment solutions and processing provider.

The investments in these six companies will help them grow their businesses and push into new markets, said Arvind Sodhani, president of Intel Capital and executive vice president of Intel. The funds are from $250 million Intel Capital India Technology Fund set up in 2005 which invests in Indian technology companies.
