Santa Barbara, Calif. - Green Hills Software, Inc. has announced multicore software development tools, operating systems, and virtualization support for Freescale Semiconductor’s 64-bit e5500 technology and 64-bit QorIQ P5010 and P5020 processors. Green Hills also supports Freescale’s quad-core, 32-bit P3041 processor.

Freescale QorIQ communications platforms are the next-generation evolution of Freescale’s PowerQUICC communications processors. Built using high-performance cores based on Power Architecture technology, Freescale QorIQ platforms consist of five platforms (P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5) that include single-, dual- and many cores to offer customers a choice of solutions, whether they are ready to move to multicore today or want a smart migration path to get there in the future.

Key additions to Green Hills Software’s QorIQ solutions to support the P5020 and P5010 include INTEGRITY AMP and SMP real-time operating system operating in true 64-bit mode; INTEGRITY Secure Virtualization hosting 64-bit guest operating systems; 64-bit-aware MULTI integrated development environment and Green Hills Probe; and Green Hills Power Architecture compilers generating 64-bit code, which the company claims is the fastest in the industry.

Green Hills Software’s optimized software solutions and comprehensive services for Freescale’s P5 and P3 processors include the certified secure INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS); INTEGRITY Secure Virtualization; MULTI integrated development environment (IDE); optimizing C/C++ compilers; TimeMachine debugging suite; SuperTrace Probe and Green Hills Probe; and extensive legacy application porting and code optimization services.

“With the addition of the P3 and P5 level products, Freescale’s QorIQ platform provides scalability from resource-constrained SoHo networking equipment to some of the most demanding 64-bit storage, networking, and aerospace applications,” says Dan Mender, vice president of business development, Green Hills Software.

Green Hills Software provides a comprehensive embedded solutions portfolio for Freescale communications processors, enabling developers to achieve maximum performance, absolute security, minimum power consumption and fastest time–to-market, while focusing on cutting edge application differentiation.

“The combination of Freescale’s QorIQ processors and Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY RTOS pairs industry hardware and software leaders,” commented Joe Byrne, senior analyst with The Linley Group. “Without doubt, the cooperative optimization of these product lines is key to meeting the challenging demands of modern embedded products.”
