Altera announces enhancements to MAX II CPLD family
    Programmable Logic DesignLine
SAN FRANCISCO—Altera Corp. said Monday (Oct. 12) it is enhancing its MAX II CPLD family by offering industrial-grade temperature ranges and lowering the power of its MAX IIZ devices.

According to Altera (San Jose, Calif.), MAX IIZ CPLDs are suited for cost- and power-sensitive applications, offering density, I/O and small package size as well as a new 55 percent reduction in static power. These new capabilities open MAX IIZ CPLDs to a broader range of markets such as industrial, computer and office automation, medical, and consumer applications, Altera said.

Altera originally introduced MAX IIZ CPLDs for portable, handheld devices, according to Luanne Schirrmeister, senior director of component product marketing at Altera.

Altera's MAX IIZ EPM240Z M68 devices are available now for $1.25 in high volumes, Altera said. More than 20 MAX IIZ design examples are available on Altera's website, the company said.
